NEI receives eight Phase I SBIR awards from Department of Energy

June 23, 2008 -- NEI Corporation , a provider of engineered nanomaterials, has been awarded eight Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards by the U.S. Department of Energy. These contracts will run concurrently and span the range from creation of next-generation battery materials to self-healing anti-corrosion coatings, to innovations in heat transfer fluids.
The awards are, in part, credited to NEI's long track record of building commercial successes in a wide range of applications markets. In addition to NEI's expertise in nanotechnology-based product development, the company has created state-of-the-art manufacturing processes that enable it to deliver cost-effective products in tonnage quantities of materials.
"I am pleased that NEI Corporation has matured into a diversified nanomaterials business with a focus on delivering value to our customers," says Dr. Ganesh Skandan, CEO of NEI Corporation. "We are successfully executing our market strategy and shaping the future of our company to be a leader in nanotechnology. The DoE grants provide new avenues for implementing advanced nanomaterials in specific energy-related applications."
Company co-founder and chairman of the board, Gary Tompa, adds that "NEI's recent grant and sales successes reflect the company's maturing nature in providing real solutions to consumer needs."
